With the racing and wedding season in full swing, occasion wear has well and truly flooded the High Street. This latest blog features my favourite special occasion summer dresses, along with celebrity looks and catwalk inspiration!
Celebrity Looks
Kate Bosworth
With the 60's trend featuring throughout SS13 collections, the shift dress can be found on the High Street in a variety of prints and colours. The structured shape is incredibly flattering as it skims your shape rather than clings to it.
Kiernan Shipka
For a more feminine look, this simple yet stunning dress works the occasion wear trend with style and class.
Lily Collins
Lily Collins shimmers in this art deco inspired metallic and lace gown - three massive trends for spring/summer.
High Street Occasionwear
L.K.Bennett - Edna Knot Front Dress, £225
For such a simple cocktail dress there is so much to like! A gorgeous mix of fabrics, flattering gathered knot detail and asymmetric neckline makes for a stunning piece. Instead of the typical little black dress go for a little nude dress instead!
Damsel In A Dress - Oriental Print Dress, £169
I not only love the pretty cherry blossom print on this dress but it's also so easy to wear with cap sleeves and being knee length too (I find so many formal dresses are just too short!).
Coast - Floral Applique Chiffon Dress, £135
Look effortless in this free flowing short sleeved occasion dress featuring layers of chiffon and unique floral applique on the body.
Ted Baker - Floral Print Pleated Dress, £159
A beautiful pleated design in a pretty floral print with striking V back detail. Love the cute matching cardi too!
Whistles - Tweedy Biker Jacket, £195
Add an elegent jacket with an edgy twist for a cool cover up over a pretty dress.
Topshop - Art Deco Wrist Purse, £20
Art Deco is a major trend this seaon and this crisp white textured clutch bag will be a great contrast against a bright coloured dress.
Jaeger - Acorn Pearl Necklace, £99
Pearls are a timeless piece and to give your look a more contemporary feel, take inspiration from Chanel's SS13 catwalk show and go for bold, oversized pieces. This gorgeous necklace from Jaeger nails the trend and will look fab with a plain and simple dress.
Topshop - Neon Trim Fedora, £25
No wedding or day at the races is complete without a hat and the fedora hat is a super stylish option that is seen everywhere on the High Street! A soft blue shade is a cool way to wear this chic trend for a clean polished look.
French Connection - Dream Suede Peep Toe Heels, £95
A black shoe doesn't have to be boring! This fab pair of open toe shoes with scalloped detailing will add an extra something to your outfit for a classic but modern look.
